Ingredients
1/2 cup French-fried onions
1 teaspoon seasoned salt, divided
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1 1/2 pounds ground chuck
2 medium tomatoes (rinsed)
1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese, divided
1/4 teaspoon oregano
cooking spray
1 (20-ounce) package refrigerated diced potatoes with onions
Steps
1. Preheat grill. Place French-fried onions in medium bowl and crush finely. Add 1/2 teaspoon of the seasoned salt, garlic powder, and ground chuck; mix to combine, but do not overmix. Form into 4 patties about 3/4-inch thick; set aside. Wash hands.
2. Remove stem from tomatoes, cut in half and scoop out pulp to form cups. (Be careful to leave tomato intact where stem was removed.) Fill each tomato cup with 1/4 cup of the cheese; sprinkle with oregano. Set aside.
3. Place patties on grill (wash hands); cook 12 minutes, turning every 4 minutes, or until internal temperature is 160°F. Use a meat thermometer to accurately ensure doneness.
4. Meanwhile, preheat large sauté pan on medium-high 2–3 minutes. Remove pan from heat; coat with cooking spray. Add potatoes; sprinkle with remaining 1/2 teaspoon seasoned salt. Cook 8–10 minutes, turning once, or until tender.
5. Meanwhile, add tomatoes to grill after second turn of patties. Serve tomato cups over patties.
