Spanish-Style Hamburgers

Ingredients
1 very well-ripened plantain
4 oz fresh chorizo (about 1/2 link)
2 tablespoons minced garlic, divided
1 lb lean ground beef, 7% fat
1 egg (or 1/4 cup egg substitute)
1/2 cup fresh pre-diced onions
1 tablespoon + 1/4 teaspoon Complete seasoning (divided)
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1/2 cup light mayonnaise
6 Bakery hamburger buns
1/2 cup canned potato sticks

Prep
  • Peel plantain and chop finely.
  • Chop chorizo finely.


Steps
  1. Combine plantains, chorizo, 1 tablespoon garlic, beef, egg, onions, 1 tablespoon Complete seasoning, and pepper until blended; shape into six patties about 1/2-inch-thick (wash hands).
  2. Preheat large sauté pan on medium-high 2–3 minutes. Place burgers in pan; cook 5–7 minutes on each side or until 160°F.
  3. Combine 1 tablespoon garlic, 1/4 teaspoon Complete seasoning, and mayonnaise; spread over inside of buns. Add burgers and top with potato sticks. Serve. (Makes 6 servings.)
